Profile of  Charlie Horst



 Officer Horst and his primary Mount bingoCharlie Horst joined the City of Rochester Police on July 6, 1970. He retired in January 2005. His first work assignment was patrolling midnight to 8 AM on the west side of the City, formerly called Unit C. In January 1977 he started to 'walk the beat' of the Downtown Section of Rochester. This position was to increase the visibility of the police in the business district, now commonly know as community policing. In the fall of 1979 he became a Mounted Officer. He works days patrolling downtown, festivals and special events with Lord Byron. Bingo (retired in 2000) and Officer Horst are pictured here at a park located in downtown Rochester. Hobbies: Officer Horst is a devoted family man. He also loves horses, owns horses, thinks, reads and breaths horses.
